7 Weeks
Yellow - Sasha
Orange and Rainbow
The puppies are now seven weeks old and they are still the sweetest litter we've had. They start leaving the nest this weekend, which will be one of those days of joy and sadness. I'm busy getting everything ready for the new owners and haven't had all the time in the world to take pictures, but here is the last of the bunch of them all together.

6 Weeks
Orange 8.11#
Yellow 7.15#I just realized that I only have two weeks left with my babies! Time has flown by so fast. Well, this week was full of fun and games. Last weekend we had a party with lots of kids and adults. The puppies were the hit of the party, as they ran around on the patio, providing the entertainment. I lost count a long time ago of how many visitors we have had, but I would say that we have already hit the 100 visitor mark, easily.
I closed off our patio with baby gates. The pups only had to knock one down once to figure it out and they had a couple of escapes before I found a way to secure the gate. Now they just jump up and down on it and whine. They have a baby pool, tunnel, box maze, many different toys, and a mini trampoline to play with. They are having a blast, in between long naps that is.
The puppies eat regular puppy kibble now, which makes feeding time much easier and cleaner. We have our CERF appointment scheduled for Wednesday and we're having a puppy visitor, Mysti (a Chinook from the recent Lily Blossom litter at Great Mountain) visit for a few days until she can head to her new home in Ohio at Boreayl Chinooks. I'm sure that Mysti will show up in several of our photos this week.
I haven't gotten any good photos yet, so I'll probably come in and change these around. My picture time has been taken up with school clothes shopping for Alex, a leaky water pressure tank in the basement that had to get replaced today, some new fans getting installed, grocery shopping, cleaning, puppy paperwork and bringing puppy stuff up and down from the basement in preparation for our CERF visit. I'm exhausted, but I still managed to take some pictures. Yes, I guess you can call it multi-tasking! Oh, and I forgot to mention that we had horrid storms last night and the pups didn't even notice. They played happily in a light misty rain and enjoyed romping in the puddles.

5 Weeks...the Fun Begins!
Ms. Pink - 6.10#
Ms. Rainbow - 7.1 #
This has been an eventful week! The babies have grown into puppies, finally. They had quite a few visitors this week and a lot of excitement. The puppies have been exploring more of the house and more of the yard. Today they moved out of their comfortable confined puppy pen area outside and were allowed to explore our patio and beyond - into the yard. It was hot, so they pooped out quickly, but they definitely thought the extra play room and new sights and smells were great.
All of these little guys are growing like weeds and I am looking forward to weighing them in the morning for their 5 week weights. They feel heavy now, so I can't wait to see how much weight they've put on this week.
Their temperaments are about the same as they were last week. Nothing new to report there. We did have a little emergency on Sunday night with Mr. Red (Mr. Big Fat Head Red) getting his head stuck between a fence post and brick wall for a good 20 minutes or so. He ended up with a head full of Crisco (something I'd seen on TV when kids get their heads stuck between posts), but that didn't work. So, with the help of eight people and some tools, we finally freed the little fella. He got his first bath and some canned food to make the whole ordeal a bit more pleasant. He doesn't seem like it phased him a bit and he's still happy to explore the unchartered territory it seems. Ms. Pink followed in his footsteps today by getting her jaw stuck in the bars of the crate. Oh the joys of raising a litter! I wonder if everybody has these little emergencies as we seem to have something go wrong at least once or twice with every litter. It sure it hard to puppy-proof for every age and stage!
The only upcoming news is that we have our CERF appointment set up for Wednesday. We are looking forward to some hopefully great news on this litter's eye health. Just a few short weeks until they head to their new homes. I will miss them, but sure will enjoy not having my 5:30am breakfast howl!
PS - Newspaper is always appreciated from any visitors and we insist that if you are in the area - you pay us a visit. The pups need lots of socialization and they would love to meet you. Everyone can use a whiff of puppy breath every now and again. :-)

4 Weeks Old!!!
Wow, this week went by very fast! I guess that's not surprising since so much happened this week. Where to start? Early last week we moved the puppies out of the whelping box and into the kitchen, where I set up the big puppy pen. The pups transitioned very well into their new living area and they seem to really enjoy having so much space to play in.
Every day I take the pups outside or when the weather isn't cooperating, the pups get to play in my family room with us. We introduced some Goat's milk the day the pups turned 3 weeks old and unlike my other litters who took a few tries before really figuring out how to lap up milk...these guys dug right in and cleaned the dish. So, I started to blend up some puppy food with their Goat's milk and water and they took right to that too. So, they've been eating a few "gruel" meals everyday and they are still nursing several times a day too. All of that food definitely turns into a mess, but just like with babies, the food all over their faces and bodies sure make for cute pictures.
The puppies are extremely playful and their personalities are starting to show. Ms. Yellow is the sweetest little girl. She is always initiating play with the other pups and people. Ms. Pink is a quiet little angel. Ms. Purple is energetic and happy-go-lucky and she has always seemed to be more mature than the other pups - and smart. Mr. Red and Ms. Rainbow have similar personalities - adventurous and more independent. Mr. Black is one of the calmer of the bunch and he prefers to be playing with the humans every chance he gets. Mr. Orange is pretty mellow and goes with the flow.
The puppies have enjoyed several trips outside this week to play in the grass and they have had many, many visitors over the past week. I admittedly have lost track of exactly how many people the pups have met, but it is over 60 and probably closer to 70 now. Summertime is a great (and easy) time for socialization with all of the kids out of school.
I had a breed potential female home back out, so Ms. Rainbow is still looking for a breed potential home.
