4 Weeks Old!!!

Wow, this week went by very fast! I guess that's not surprising since so much happened this week. Where to start? Early last week we moved the puppies out of the whelping box and into the kitchen, where I set up the big puppy pen. The pups transitioned very well into their new living area and they seem to really enjoy having so much space to play in.

Every day I take the pups outside or when the weather isn't cooperating, the pups get to play in my family room with us. We introduced some Goat's milk the day the pups turned 3 weeks old and unlike my other litters who took a few tries before really figuring out how to lap up milk...these guys dug right in and cleaned the dish. So, I started to blend up some puppy food with their Goat's milk and water and they took right to that too. So, they've been eating a few "gruel" meals everyday and they are still nursing several times a day too. All of that food definitely turns into a mess, but just like with babies, the food all over their faces and bodies sure make for cute pictures.

The puppies are extremely playful and their personalities are starting to show. Ms. Yellow is the sweetest little girl. She is always initiating play with the other pups and people. Ms. Pink is a quiet little angel. Ms. Purple is energetic and happy-go-lucky and she has always seemed to be more mature than the other pups - and smart. Mr. Red and Ms. Rainbow have similar personalities - adventurous and more independent. Mr. Black is one of the calmer of the bunch and he prefers to be playing with the humans every chance he gets. Mr. Orange is pretty mellow and goes with the flow.

The puppies have enjoyed several trips outside this week to play in the grass and they have had many, many visitors over the past week. I admittedly have lost track of exactly how many people the pups have met, but it is over 60 and probably closer to 70 now. Summertime is a great (and easy) time for socialization with all of the kids out of school.

I had a breed potential female home back out, so Ms. Rainbow is still looking for a breed potential home.
